A well-considered purchase, or how to adapt the mobile home to your needs
Mobile homes on wheels are made individually to the customer for a reason. They are so small that every element used in them is important. When choosing a Tiny House, it is important to carefully define your needs and ideas about the house you will use.
Any collaboration in creating a mobile home should start by asking very important questions.
1) How many people will live in the Tiny House?
The size of the mobile home depends on the number of occupants. The surface area has to be adjusted in such a way that every person in the mobile home feels comfortable and has their own space. However, not only the size is important as the number of inhabitants also influences the arrangement of the interior (e.g. with 4 people you will need a second bedroom mezzanine).
Is the house to be a year-round or a summer house?
Different materials and elements are needed to build a summer/vacation tiny house and others for a house where you live all year round. The weatherproofing of a house is one of the most important considerations in its construction.
3 – Where will you put the tiny house?
Another important consideration is the location of the house. If the tiny house will be placed on a plot with access to utilities, there is no need to install a composting toilet, photovoltaic panels or a huge water tank. If, on the other hand, the tiny house is to be relocated or set up in an open field, it will have to be adapted for independent living.
4: Is the tiny house more mobile or stationary?
This question is mainly about the weight of the tiny house. Tiny houses are situated on a chassis with a dcm of 3500kg with full homologation. All you need to transport them is a suitable car and a B+E driving licence. If it is to move frequently and participate in road traffic, the trailer must be insured and its weight including equipment must not exceed 3.5t. Customers who intend to move the tiny house once every few years do not need a higher category of driving licence and can afford additional equipment, the weight of which will not play a role.
5 What kind of heating will you use?
The choice of heating has to be adapted to the answers of the previous questions. It could be gas, electric or wood heating. All options are possible, but each house needs to be tailored individually.
